The No. 4 Miami Hurricanes (4-0, 2-0 ACC) head to Death Valley on Saturday night to take on the Clemson Tigers (3-1, 2-0 ACC) at Memorial Stadium in a primetime ACC college football showdown at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Hurricanes haven’t necessarily played top-notch talent yet this season, but they have proven to be a dangerous force on offense, averaging 51.8 points and 588.8 total yards per game. Quarterback Darian Mensah is playing lights out in his first year with Miami, having thrown 14 touchdowns with no interceptions while posting an FBS-leading 88.7% completion percentage.

Running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. and Javian Mallory have both rushed for over 200 yards and each have three rushing touchdowns this season, while sophomore wide receiver Malachi Toney enters Week 5 leading the ACC with 34 receptions, 564 yards, and six receiving touchdowns through only four games. Mensah and Toney both played exceptionally well in Miami’s 52-3 win over Central Michigan in Week 4, but it was Chris Wheatley-Humphrey who led the Hurricanes’ rushing attack with 104 yards and a touchdown while Fletcher was out due to injury.

Clemson suffered a 51-10 loss to LSU to open its season but has responded with three consecutive wins, including a 24-10 victory over California in Week 4. The Tigers will stick with true freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds in Week 5 against Miami after he was named the starter following Christopher Vizzina suffering a small fracture in his non-throwing elbow in Week 2 against Georgia Southern.

While Vizzina has been cleared to play and has been practicing, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is opting to continue allowing him to fully recover while keeping Reynolds as the starter during the current winning streak. Reynolds and Clemson face a tall task Saturday night, though, against one of the top defensive units in college football.

Clemson vs. Miami Best Bet: Miami -14.5 (-115)

Clemson may be on a three-game winning streak, but the Tigers are set to face a different animal in this No. 4-ranked Miami team. Not only were the Hurricanes in the National Championship Game last season, but they are also off to a terrific start this season with one of the best offenses and defenses in the country.

Clemson already got blown out 51-10 by a top-ranked team in LSU in Week 1. It’s hard to expect a true freshman quarterback like Tait Reynolds, who’s thrown just one touchdown pass and has been intercepted twice this season, to perform at a high level against this Miami defense while also trying to keep pace with the Hurricanes’ explosive offense.
